Section 44ADA — Professions
Declare 50% of gross receipts
Limit ₹50L
₹75L if cash ≤ 5%
No lock-in
Section 44AD — Business
Two things people get wrong
The percentage is a floor, not a cap — declare less and you need books plus an audit. And advance tax is a single instalment by 15 March, not four.
This calculator applies Sections 44ADA and 44AD as they stand for the selected year, including the 5% cash-receipts test that unlocks the higher ceiling and the single 15-March advance tax instalment. Whether your particular work is a 'profession' under Section 44AA(1) is a judgement call and the calculator cannot make it for you — that matters most for creators and influencers, where business code 16021 exists but the statutory profession list does not mention influencing. Tax audit applicability under Section 44AB depends on facts we do not collect here. GST registration is a separate question from income tax and is not covered. Consult a tax professional before filing. RushTax is a freelance consulting service — not a CA firm.
